Lisa Oskam and co-authors from the photobiology team published a low-cost imaging platform, based on on Raspberry Pi mini computers and dedicated bioinformatics scripts for downstream image analysis as an open access paper in Plant Physiology: https://doi.org/10.1093/plphys/kiae097. Using this system we have been able to follow in great detail the movement and length growth of leaf blades and petioles of Arabidopsis plants under different light qualities. Perhaps the coolest realisation was that large parts of the response to light quality happend in the dark! Have a look at the paper and the linked scripts for yourself!
