Computational models are a fantastic tool that we are adding to our research these days. Franca Bongers, in a collaboration between Jochem Evers at Wageningen University and ourselves, built an Arabidopsis Functional Structural Plant (FSP) model in which growth of individual plants, and plant canopies emerge from physiological parameters. We had already used this model in our latest PNAS paper on local FR signaling (see one of the former posts), and have now published a more elaborate description in the proceedings from the international FSPM conference Qingdao (China) last year, where we presented the work.
